Raised in an Appalachian home that kept traditional Cherokee practices, Joyce astounded family and neighbors with her ability to hear and talk to animals at an early age, even to handle poisonous snakes without injury. She has six years of experience in animal rescue with Wetzel County Animal Rescue, 30 years of experience dog handling and training, training with top trainers like Ian Dunbar, Cheryl Smith and several others. Joyce also spent two years as a wolf rescue volunteer in Colorado, and has been active for 17 years in wolf and wildlife education and preservation. As a dog handler, animal communication has become effective in finding trouble spots related to canine behavior. She is one of the leaders of the Four Rivers Lodge Native American Church of Marion, KY and Southern Illinois. Are the ones we have woefully inadequate, or just not enforced? Do prosecutors, and those in the justice system, lack the special skills and /or experience needed to successfully prosecute abuse cases? Or is it simply because we see animals as property, and you can’t inflict pain or suffering on a piece of property?
